Why has Fast Fibre been recalled?
Two specific batches of Fast Fibre have been recalled because linseed levels in some bags from these batches were higher than intended. While not every bag within these batches is affected, the decision was taken to recall the entirety of the two identified batches as a precautionary measure.
Which batches are affected?
Only the following Fast Fibre batches are affected:
- Batch number 14/01/26 with a best before date of 04/05/26
- Batch number 15/01/26 with a best before date of 05/05/26
How do I find the batch date on my bag(s) of feed?
You can find the batch date on the sewn in label at the bottom of your bag. The batch number is on the right-hand side of the label; here is a picture to identify exactly where to look.
Does the batch number relate to date of production?
Yes. So, if your batch number is before the 14/01/26 you do not need to worry.
No other batches or Allen & Page products are included in this recall.
Is the feed harmful or toxic?
No. The affected batches are not toxic, are not contaminated, and are not a clean sport or NOPS issue. There is no evidence of a harmful substance being present.
What exactly was the ingredient issue?
The linseed inclusion level in some bags from the affected batches was higher than intended. No other ingredients are affected.
Is the linseed in this feed raw or untreated?
No. The linseed is expelled.
Does this affect starch or sugar levels?
No. We can confirm that the combined starch and sugar level remains below 10% in all cases, including the affected batches.
I’ve been feeding an affected bag to my horse, what should I do next?
Stop feeding the affected batch and dispose of it. Monitor your equine, as usual, for appetite and water intake, manure and urination, attitude and behaviour etc, if you notice any changes please contact us.
Has my horse been harmed if they have already eaten it and are there any symptoms I should be looking out for?
Increased linseed can affect equines differently. If you would like to discuss your horse’s health, please contact us directly so we can support you.
Why wasn’t this explained in the first communication?
Our first priority was to ensure customers stopped feeding the affected batches immediately. The initial communication therefore focused on clear action. Once the feed was no longer being used, we were able to provide further detail.
How can I tell if my feed may be from an affected batch if I no longer have the bag?
Some affected bags may appear darker in colour and feel stickier or more ‘gloopy’ than usual once soaked. Not all bags show these characteristics.
Does the affected feed take longer to soak than usual?
No.
What if I emptied the feed into a bin and no longer have the label or receipt?
If you purchased Fast Fibre after 16 January and notice unusual colour or a stickier mash once soaked, please do not feed it and contact us directly. If you purchased Fast Fibre before 16 January, your feed is unaffected and safe to feed.
Do stockists know which batches they sold?
Yes. Stockists have been informed of the affected batches and can confirm whether they supplied feed from these batches using their batch records.
Can Allen & Page confirm which stockists received Fast Fibre from these batches?
No. Much of Allen & Page feed is delivered by our wholesalers so please contact your stockist directly.
Why weren’t stockists informed immediately?
Stockists were informed immediately.
Are any other Allen & Page products affected?
No. Only Fast Fibre batch number 14/01/26 (best before 04/05/26) and batch number 15/01/26 (best before 05/05/26) are affected.
What should I do now?
Although the ingredient is linseed, please do not feed Fast Fibre from the affected batches. Dispose of the feed and retain the label or receipt as proof of purchase, if you have it. A full refund is available through your stockist.
