Twenty Top Horses Storm HOYS
Mother and daughter duo Jill and Katie Jerram had a fantastic time at HOYS this year, qualifying 26 horses and entering 20, all of which were placed inside the top nine in each of their classes. All of the 20 hailed from the Jerram yard, and were fed on Allen & Page Horse Feed’s Quiet Pencils, a high quality, balanced diet for horses who ‘heat up’ even on low energy mixes, and the regular choice of commercial yards or owners with a large number of horses.
The Heavyweight Hunter class was awarded to Noble Clover, owned and ridden by Katie Jerram. Katie also rode David Stennett-owned Almost Illegal, and won the Hack and Champion Hack, whilst another horse of the Stennetts, Pussy Galore, took the Coloured and Reserve Coloured Champion. Sadie Pickup, riding Hampton Prince of Tides, triumphed in the Large Intermediate Show Riding Types, and was also Reserve Champion in the class.
Other horses that enjoyed success were Advance Party, who came second in the Reserve Champion Ladies Hunter Side Saddle; Hampton Prince of Tides and Holtess Veni Vidi Vici, who came second and third respectively in the Small Riding Horse; King’s Gold and Queen’s Town who were third and fourth respectively in the Large Riding Horse; and Just Joe, who came fourth in the Middleweight class.
The Jerram’s competition livery yard is 42-horses strong, comprising mainly show horses, but also serving to break in horses over the winter.
“We’ve had the best season ever,” said Jill Jerram, “with over one hundred winners from the yard. Not only have I fed my horses Allen & Page products in the run-up to HOYS, I’ve been using them for years. My horses are known to be extremely well behaved horses, and I would, and do, recommend Allen & Page to everybody.” Quiet Pencils, from Allen & Page, are the premium cube with real mint, ideal for those horses and ponies in light work that don’t need high levels of energy.
Containing a wide range of essential vitamins and minerals, Quiet Pencils are also the feed of choice for Pippa Funnell.
