Testimonials

Robin Nicholls has ridden out with foxhounds from the age of 10, he has been a hunt servant for nearly 20 years and has a wealth of experience when it comes to hunting horses and hounds. His current horse - Fox is a 9 year old, TB x ID mare who with Robin has hunted 3 seasons. “To say she is naturally hot and firey in her temperament would be an understatement. The main problem with her is that you are constantly battling with her head (mentally), she is greatly affected by the surrounding environment and her brain is constantly working. At the end of a day's hunting the body is tired but the mind is still willing which can lead to her leaning on the bit and being a bit stressy in her attitude”. In her stable on a normal/quiet day – nothing stressful going on but she is constantly rearing. Her stable walls have large gouges out of them where she has kicked them.
“After a short break from hunting she was taken to the Royal Cornwall Show 2008 to compete in the Inter Hunt Relay, she had to be returned home on the evening of the first day and another horse replaced her for the remaining days due to her behaviour. It completely blew her brain, she was unmanageable”.
Fox was put onto Power & Performance in the Autumn of 2008. “It took a bit of getting my head round as I have always fed what ever straights I can get hold of and then added molasses. At the time Fox was receiving oats, boiled barley and molasses, three times a day with ad lib haylage. Our Allen & Page Representative, Cassy told me about Power & Performance which was oat, barley and molasses free – I was sceptical to say the least, but she wrote out a feeding programme for me and I, quite simply… followed it”.
“Half way through the second bag of Power & Performance I noticed a difference in Fox’s general behaviour… she was much more chilled out and more manageable in her day to day routine, out hunting she was much more concentrated on the job in hand and less effected by the surrounding environment. There is now a steady, constant energy underneath me throughout the day. Right to the end she is much more manageable and more able to do her work as she is not tired - in the stable after hunting she is calmer.”
“Although Power & Performance was very easy to use I did think it was expensive, but when Cassy and I sat down and went through the actual costs, it wasn’t at all, infact I have saved time and effort by not having to boil barley, I don’t have to mix 3 different feed stuffs together and I do not have to add any vitamins or minerals as I know she is getting it all in her Power & Performance. I simply put the scoop in one bag (rather than 2 or 3) and add a bit of water and its done, simple as that! Not only is it easy for me to prepare, it is easy for Fox to eat, she loves the taste and had no problem whatsoever moving to an un-molassed diet. The cubes absorb the water a little so are slightly softer for her to eat, which she especially appreciates after a hard day’s hunting as she gets it made with warm water!”
“Fox can often drop weight towards the end of the season, but as you will see from the pictures she remains well covered and her coat is glossy and healthy.”
“I have not had the vet out to her this season, normally hunting horses pick up niggly little injuries after becoming tired and they also wear their shoes more heavily, but this season I have not had any of these concerns. I am very impressed with Power & Performance and will definitely be feeding it again next season.”

"I would just like to thank you for all your information and help with my feeding dilemma at Your Horse Live on Saturday 10th 2007. The lady I spoke to was very helpful and I was very impressed by the level of information supplied to myself. The samples that you gave me made such a difference to him. He now slows his eating right down instead of rushing his feed. His droppings have now become firmer and are now like little bullets, much easier to find in his bed!! He seems more content and he now eats all his hay at night, were as before he was leaving half of it, I think this was due to rushing his feed. In the short time I have been using this product it has made such a difference, thank you for the advice and the free sample, I am now off to my local supplier Rollestone Feeds to buy my first bag for my hungry cart horse with docked legs! Super huge thanks and I will send Picture of his weight loss when I can."

"I bought a very talented showjumper with a multitude of behavioural problems in all aspects of his life, i.e. in the field, ridden, handled etc. I suspected he was stressed and had food intolerances. I fed him Calm & Condition and within 3 weeks he was competing happily, and within three months his behavioural problems had reduced. He is now very affectionate and a bit of a comedian."

"I bought Fudge last October. She was very overweight, and we later found out she was in foal. She had mites, with very dull, dry flaky skin, and dull, weepy eyes. She certainly hadn’t had a good start in life, and was very bolshy, marish and nervous when out riding. After losing the foal (due to drowning) we changed her feed to Ride & Relax®. Within 2 months, she was a completely different horse, not bolshy or nervous, and her skin and coat were in great condition. I wouldn’t use anything but Ride & Relax®. Many thanks."

"I have now started to use Slim & Healthy as my horse is extremely fat and needs to lose some weight, but keep a good healthy coat. I also use Old Faithfull on my 2 golden oldies who are 45, and 31. Both charge round like spring chickens and are renowned for escaping and breaking in to the tack room!!"

"I feed Calm & Condition to all my horses when I’m bringing them back into work – it’s absolutely brilliant when they start to get a bit fitter and I want to build them up a bit without them getting silly."

"I bought My Boy after several years of being 'off the scene' and I thought I'd made a huge mistake. When I first tried him out he was a perfect gentleman, but after having him home for several days his behaviour went downhill. I slowly disintegrated from a happy confident rider into a nervous wreck. My horse would spook at everything he came into contact with whilst out on a ride, including leaves, and, whenever the fancy took him, he'd bolt. The final straw came when he'd bolted one day and I was rushed into hospital with suspected paralysis. Fortunately, it was just very severe bruising, but it was then that I seriously started to take action. My Boy was fed simply on a diet of chaff and pasture mix so I never thought it'd be anything to do with his diet. Just to be on the safe side, I tried nearly every calming supplement on the market and nothing seemed to work. One day I saw an advert in my 'Your Horse' magazine for Ride & Relax® and I thought, what the hell, I may as well give it a try. I can't believe what a change occurred in My Boy. The spooking seemed to lessen and he just seemed like a happier horse generally. Since he's been on Ride & Relax® he's tried to bolt once, but the difference was he immediately relaxed and came back to me when I asked him – without me clinging on for dear life and fighting with him! His general all-round condition and manner has improved; in fact, his coat has never been so shiny and healthy. There's no way I'll take him off his favourite feed now and I've even persuaded two other girls on the yard to make the change from their generic pasture mix to Ride & Relax®. Both have noticed a difference since."

"I have fed Allen & Page Calm & Condition to my 29-year-old who has very few teeth and was losing weight but now he looks 10 years’ younger and put the weight back on. So, thank you for keeping him going."
Mrs Sue Yapp

"Since using Calm & Condition it has improved my mare’s coat and still doesn’t make her get flighty, like some brands of feeds. It makes her coat shiny when normally it looks dull, and it also helps keep the weight on her when normally she loses weight easily."
Miss Claire Ward

"My cob spends six days a week hacking and schooling. I now have a best mate due to Ride & Relax®. He’s calm and cool, but still full of fun."
Miss Hannah Burt

"We bought Saracen against all advice and we always felt that he had talent, even though he could be difficult and unpredictable at times. He always had itchy skin and terrible sunburn, and he often seemed irritable and unable to relax. We started him on Ride & Relax® two weeks before the British Riding Clubs National Championships, and can’t believe the change in him. "Everyone was so pleased when our well-behaved horse completed a double clear to win the Novice Show-Jumping Championships as part of the Huntingdon and District Riding Club team. He was so relaxed he even had a snooze during the show!"
