Sugar & Cereal Intolerance Case Studies
|
When Jenny Morgan from Warwickshire went to buy a chicken house which had been advertised for sale in the local paper, she had no idea she was going to come back with a pony instead. Arriving at the house where the chicken coop was for sale she could not help noticing a very small and very elderly pony, in a somewhat neglected state and confined in a small concrete yard. Twinkle had been bought for children to ride and the children had lost interest. With several grandchildren already and more to come, Jenny felt that she could give this pony a home, although getting her back into health would prove to be a challenge. Although originally said to be 16, when Twinkle’s papers arrived, it turned out that she was in fact 32 (she is now 35). For the first year, Jenny and her vet struggled to get Twinkle back to good health. However, the turning point came when the vet suggested that some ponies did very well on Allen & Page Sugar & Cereal Intolerance diet. Sugar & Cereal Intolerance Diet as its name suggests is free from added sugars, molasses and cereal grains making it very low in sugar and starch. High fibre ingredients as well as herbs and yeast provide a rich natural source of vitamins and probiotics are included to help maintain a healthy balance of beneficial bacteria in the gut. After just two months on this feed Twinkle’s coat returned to normal and six months further on (see photo) she has a normal coat with a lovely shine to it. She is full of life and altogether a very happy pony. She is ridden regularly and really loves her job.
