Calm & Condition Case Studies

"I rescued a two year old TB filly. She was straight off the boat and was in appalling condition. She was quiet, you could see every rib and vertebrae, her coat was dull and full of lice, and her eyes were lifeless.

After six weeks on Calm & Condition she was a different horse. Full of life, and a much healthier weight. Her coat was glossy and her feet were better too. After six months I was showing in best condition classes and winning!"

"My horse Alfie struggled to maintain weight and condition during the winter, but as he is very excitable, finding a suitable feed was a huge challenge. One of my friends recommended Allen & Page Calm & Condition for Alfie. The difference in Alfie has been amazing. He no longer loses weight or condition in the winter and although he still has his 'moments', he is far easier to manage. I have recommended Allen & Page feed to others as I think it is fantastic!"

Peanut my seven year old Selle Francaise Mare, looked very poor and thin when she was three. I tried her with Calm & Condition and was delighted with the results. She was mostly in at the time, so I couldn't afford a heating feed. By the start of the second bag, she was shinier and healthier than I had ever seen her. She was also putting on weight in all the right places, with no ill-effects to her behaviour. I would recommend it to anyone in a similar situation!

I bought Missy in January, when she was in a poor condition. She was only two at the time, and in her third home already! Since then, I have tried a few different feeds which didn't really put much weight on her - until I was told to try Allen & Page Calm & Condition and there has been a massive difference!

She is now broken in and enjoying life, and will be four in the spring, ready to start a ridden showing career. She has already been placed at county level this year, so I can't wait to see what 2012 brings. I recommend your feed to everyone as it has helped me massively with my mare.

When I bought my horse, she had been out of work for over two years and other than that, we had very little knowledge of her history. I had been looking for an experienced, calm gelding rather than the skinny wild eyed mare I ended up with! To start with training was… interesting and I fell off a lot until a friend recommended using Calm & Condition.

I must say that since we changed her feed things have completely changed. She is now super-fit, competing well in dressage (top 3 every time) and jumping. I used to need a gag and standing martingale just to trot around a school - now she only needs a snaffle for gallops! I believe Calm & Condition played a big part in Molly’s transformation and I am very grateful for it.

"My horse has responded very well to the Allen & Page feeds Calm & Condition and Fast Fibre. They allow flexibility to increase/decrease the energy levels as required whilst still keeping the required vitamins and nutrients. My horse was susceptible to skin bumps and occasional behaviourable 'mood swings'. However, since using Allen & Page he has been very consistent, able to concentrate and perform better as demonstrated by our qualification to compete at this year's Hickstead Masters Class in Dressage. Thank you!"

Star fed Calm and ConditionFeeding youngsters can prove to be tricky, particularly when they reach 2-3 years and no longer require a high powered stud feed. As young horses approach their third year they are ready to be moved off a stud feed, and for horses that tend to be good doers they can be moved off a stud feed much earlier. Jane contacted the Allen & Page helpline needing advice on what to feed Star, their rising three year old warmblood horse.

Star has a tendency to drop weight quite easily but can also be quite highly strung and owner Jane doesn’t want a feed that could make this behaviour worse, particularly as Star will be backed later on this year.

Calm & Condition was recommended as it will provide Star with enough energy and protein for any growing that she has left to do. Calm & Condition is barley and molasses free which makes it low in sugar and starch which helps to avoid excitable behaviour. Instead the energy that Calm & Condition supplies comes from its high oil and fibre content which will supply Star with slow release energy which is effective at promoting weight gain and condition and is also less likely to cause any excitable or fizzy behaviour.

Protexin, a prebiotic combination is also included to help maintain a healthy balance of beneficial bacteria in the digestive system which helps the horse to make the most of their feed.

Since changing to Calm & Condition Star is less excitable and looks in fantastic condition and Jane is looking forward to starting work with her soon.
