Eventer wins on the flat at Southwell
Thursday 12 May 2011
Banbury-based event rider, and fan of Allen & Page Horse Feeds, Sarah Millard proved her versatile equestrian credentials at Nottinghamshire’s first Countryside Racing Evening, taking victory in the Inter-Hunt Charity Flat Race before the National Hunt meeting.
A Joint Master of the Granta Harriers, Sarah was riding Mr D Allen’s appropriately named Handtheprizeover (‘Oscar’), winning by a head race in aid of the Lincolnshire & Nottinghamshire Air Ambulance, the Hunt Staff Benefit Society and the Union of Country Sports Workers.
Alongside her busy eventing schedule and duties as Joint Master, Sarah still finds the time for fundraising activities in support of the traditional countryside way of life. “It was fantastic to be part of this innovative charity event, and the friendly rivalry between hunts provided an added sense of competition on the track. I’d like to thank Oscar’s owner Mr Allen, the team at Ben Case Racing who provided me with such a good horse, and Keeli, my groom and guide for the day.”
On her own yard, Sarah feeds her event horses and young horses on Allen & Page feeds and gets great results, making the most of Yard Visits from her Area Sales Manager Nicola Witty, who provides advice.
Sarah’s next charity venture will be the Help for Heroes Big Battlefield Bike Ride, an annual cycling challenge from the coast of Normandy to the centre of Paris, requiring participants to cover up to 75 miles a day between important World War II battle sites.
