Encouraging Eating

My horse has recently suffered an injury and has got to have 6 weeks of box rest. We are two weeks into this so far and I am finding that he is reluctant to eat his feed. What can I do to encourage him to eat?

Enforced rest may cause some horses to lose their appetite, adding succulents such as carrots and apples to the feed can encourage fussy feeders. You can also try adding extra mint or some apple juice mixed into the feed. Splitting your horse’s daily ration into several smaller meals can also help.
