My background is mostly from sales. I began with Business Studies at college, then became a dental nurse, then went on to be a field sales rep for Sony Music UK. I have also worked for Southampton Football Club and then as a Business Development Executive for the Rose Bowl Hampshire Cricket, so most of my initial sales experience was in the leisure industry. The reason I wanted to work for Allen & Page was that I trusted the feeding advice the company gave and I had great results feeding Allen & Page to my own horses. Having had bad experience of incorrect feeding advice, I felt that going into the animal feed industry was more of the role I wanted to do. After applying twice to Allen & Page I was lucky to get the job. This was the only feeding company I wanted to work for and the only one I applied for. ?
I have two children: Sophie 19 years old and Emily 11 years old, and I am married to my husband Malcolm. Horses have always been a massive part of my life as we have had horses since I was a small child. I was riding my mum’s Shire horse called Ben at the age of five and the yard used to laugh at me, as they said “ I looked like a pea on a drum”. My first pony was loaned for me at the age of eight years old – he was a Welsh Section A called Smokey and he was pure evil, hence no one else wanting him. So my mum thought he would be a good pony to learn on and he taught me to ride properly very quickly, being thrown off most days. Mum then decided to buy me a fantastic Connemara Mare called Kyla at the age of 12 years old she was a perfect all round horse and I had a lot of fun with her.?I now have two horses. One of my horses is a 15.2hh dapple grey Catherston warmblood called Taz and we have loaned him out to compete this year; we have had him from two years old and he is now eight. I also have a 16’2 mahogany bay TB X Shire called Leo who I use as a riding horse; he was four when I bought him and now he is 11. I have done showing classes, had a go at show jumping and do lots of fun rides, but this year has been a struggle to do much as I am always very busy out and about.
